May 12, 2009 - KRU Studios has entered an agreement with Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) to promote its fourth film, Jin Notti.

Under the agreement, TM will be offering exclusive media content from the film via Hypp.TV, which is the official online partner for Jin Notti. Through a micro site, fans can get access to the film’s trailer; the video on its theme song, Seumur Hidup (by Dafi); and other exclusive clips from the film.

TM will also be bringing out limited edition iTalk prepaid cards featuring images of the characters from Jin Notti.

At the press conference to announce the joint agreement,  Kru Studios’ Norman Abdul Halim, who is also the film’s executive producer, says Jin Notti is part of studio’s strategy to ensure that its films are different from other production houses.

Aziz A. Hadi, TM vice-president and product manager explains that TM is not restricting its involvement to only education and sports events.

He adds: “TM is now expanding into the art and entertainment industry and has made the decision to support Jin Notti so that the local film industry keeps growing. This is also to encourage film producers to keep coming out with high quality films.”

The film stars Mawi, Fara Fauzara and Cat Farish and is directed by Azhari Zain, who is making his first full directorial debut after having been the assistant director for all the films produced by KRU Studios.

Aziz says that TM’s involvement is also to support Fara who has been a TM product endorser since 2007. This is the first time the actress is playing the lead in a movie after having taken on supporting roles in the past.

Fara, who is also a well-known radio DJ on Hot FM, is taking on five different roles in the film, and even speaks Cantonese as Y’vonne, a Chinese girl.

She plays Notti, a good- hearted genie who is accused by the genie judgment council for being too good. As punishment, she is sent to Earth to inhabit the bodies of three different women – Ruby, a wild punk rocker; Y’vonne, the girlfriend of a gangster; and Sharifah, a lawyer.

Notti’s lawyer Jinbara (Cat) follows her to Earth to keep an eye on her. However, Notti meets Aziz (played by Mawi), a mortal, and falls for him.

Former Akademi Fantasia winner Mawi is making his debut as an actor in this film.

Jin Notti, which began production in June last year, is made with a budget of RM2 million. It features the spectacular computer graphic imagery which KRU Studios is famous for in its other films such as Cicakman and its sequel, and Duyung.

Jin Notti is scheduled for release during Hari Raya. TM will kick off the movie promotion on June 21, with several activities being held throughout the country.
